Inspired by the exhibition Lydia Corbett, Picasso’s Sylvette, we'll be drawing in the gallery while listening to the hits of 1953, the year that aged 19, Lydia Corbett, then called Sylvette David, became Picasso’s muse, sitting for some of his finest paintings.
Their meeting would alter Sylvette’s life although she had already artistic aspirations for herself, throughout the course of an itinerant and somewhat erratic life, Lydia has found a single and enduring strength of purpose through painting and sculpture.
Over 200 works, oils and watercolours along with ceramics and other three-dimensional works will be in the exhibition and will inspire our drawing.
Our Coffee Mornings for Art Lovers are a great chance to do some sketching and drawing, whether you are a seasoned artist or a first timer. Bring along your sketchbook and pencils, if you don't have any there are free drawing materials generously provided by Winsor & Newton.
If you don't fancy picking up a pencil, these Coffee Mornings are perfect for those of you who love popping in to have an informal chat about art with other visitors and members of the Mall Galleries team.
Come along between 10am and 12 noon, get a hot drink and a pastry from the Cafe for just £3.
This event is part of Silver Sunday, a day of free events and activiteies for older people. Find other events near you: www.silversunday.org.uk
