About
Wood engraving is a centuries old technique; it is at once the simplest and one of the most exquisite forms of printmaking.
Wood engravings tend to be closely worked and relatively small because of the finely pointed tools that are used.
The finesse of wood engraving produces a particularly rich tonal range and therefore they are usually, but by no means exclusively, black and white.
Inspiration for the prints in this exhibition has been drawn from the coast and countryside and the varied flora and fauna that thrive in it.
Artist Julia Timmins will be performing demonstrations throughout the exhibition,
