About
13 urban photographers from all over the world tell stories of the city, from portrait projects of class and identity to explorations of gentrification. The works in the exhibition are all from the Photography and Urban Cultures MA at Goldsmiths College, London, which explores the creative interplay between urban theory and the visual representation of urban cultures and places.
As global urbanization speeds up and our political and media environments become more fragmented, exploring and examining how we live together becomes art’s most urgent task. The exhibition takes an expansive approach to the urban realm, with a selection of images which range from a forensic detailing of architectural space by Steve Jones, to a delicate exploration of public decency by Tingling Yu.
Different formats, viewpoints, and ideas come together to create a portrait of modern urban life.
