About
Christophe Constantin traces the prints of romanticism in his artistic research, making them his own. In doing so, the nineteenth-century movement is revived through the pictorial gesture, frank and incisive. The sublime aura, which refers to the well-known emotional limbo oscillating between pleasure and perpetual restlessness, envelops the audience. The latter is nothing more than a mere spectator of the show that will manifest itself, in nuances of dormant hopes and disenchantment, just as the title of the unpublished work We will take a bath once the storm is over announces. The storm should not be understood only on the natural plane, but on a metaphorical plane, symbol of life. This, swaying between pleasures and problems, is driven by winds at first calm and then becoming rigid and strong able to raise waves of a furious sea. Man can do nothing but wait for the flow of events, at the mercy of the currents, pointing towards a north not equal for all, hoping to arrive - sooner or later - in safer waters. (Valentina Muzi)
