About

The work serves as a poetic reflection of the connectedness and trials of life. At its best, the work uncovers something of the viewer. It is made in the studio from a deeply personal perspective, yet, for all to share.

The premise began two years ago. Due to a number of personal heartbreaks I took inventory of life and actions to create it. Layers of my previous self and choices were peeled away, like a hieroglyphic into stone. Fresh elements revealed. A shift occurred in subject matter within the paintings. The melancholy for the past, recollection of past hurts, now, accepted. I moved in to inhabit the present moment. This with help from a moving meditation practice, present and future became anchor points. The greatest goal of the exhibition is to illuminate this artist statement much more than vice versa.

Pattern from home textiles, rugs, ceramics and linens melt in a colorful secondary palette. Idyllic landscapes interplay with alla prima drawings captured with the studio as still life. Dreamy palm trees, homes and umbrellas stand in for human inhabitation and populate the canvas. The thousand thoughts of a single moment honored with this interplay and then unleashed. Triangles invigorate the composition to honor history of painting composition. The great resolve of this exhibition stands in as my lifetime.
