Right before the beginning of february the Michaela Helfrich gallery presents an exhibition of Christina Gay, gathering the nucleous of the gallery focus on paintings and skulptures.
About
The former master class student from the state run art college of Karlsruhe shows some of her latest works including paperworks in mixed media as well as large scale paintings, collages and skulptures. “ Informal Art up to installation” Gay sums it up.
The works of the young lady are not meant to give a harmonious and coherent full picture togehther. The ensemble almost doesn´t suit. Posed in the given art space they crash into each other and contradict a tidy, clean and liveless home- scenery. This is what composes the charm of the exhibition with the dubious title “Joy of habitation”.
Sharp and acute luminous color- rags struggle through nebulous picture settings. Bizarre details, fragments, attract the viewer. Destructed till beyond regognition faces loom, arise in between the gap of abstract movement and figuration.
