Christianna Marion Mitchell (b.1959) is an artist based in London and Berlin. Fascinated by the ever changing face of the urban landscape, she explores the minutiae of city living. The images that reach the canvas are often unconscious photos from the album in her mind. Sections of buildings, snapshots of decay, contoured lines from the topography on a map and fleeting images from her memory, are expressed in bold abstract forms. Graphite marks appearing in her work, refer to the physical movement in our urban environment. Her work appears as a phenomenological expression of the experience of being in these places.
She has a BA (Hons)in Film and Photography from The University of Westminster and a BA(Hons)in Fine Art which she studied at The Cass School of Art and Design.
