Engaging with creativity and the arts has been proven through history to aid communication, build relationships, form social connections and help make sense of our complex emotions and feelings.

About

In this 90-minute workshop, our qualified Art Therapist will guide each participant through a creative experience within a supportive, group environment. Children will be encouraged to reflect and explore the impact that the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has had on their emotional and psychological wellbeing. The workshop will incorporate a range of art materials, used alongside the exhibited photographs, to investigate what the pandemic has stirred within our psyche.

Hanna Leipold is an Art Psychotherapist trained both in Germany (DIPL.) and in the UK (MA). She is a member of the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT) and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

She has over 12 years of experience in the field (psychiatric and non-clinical settings), and currently practices in primary and secondary education, as well as adult mental health in Hertfordshire and North London.

Furthermore, she has worked in a number of international contexts, such as South Africa and Germany.

Although she has been working therapeutically with individuals from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of challenges, she feels as passionate as when she began her journey into the profession. As she has continued to support young people throughout the pandemic, she feels strongly about supporting the younger generation’s mental and emotional health.

The high value of each individual’s unique creative expression is reflected in her approach to her own practice as an artist. It is her belief that creativity in the therapeutic space can be a way to explore difference, to negotiate interpersonal boundaries and to make sense of complex thoughts and feelings.
