The CIRCA programme, c.20:20, continues throughout November with the presentation of Cauleen Smith's 'COVID MANIFESTO' every evening at 20:20GMT on London's iconic Piccadilly Lights screen.
About
Throughout November, one of America’s leading artists, Cauleen Smith, will present her 'COVID MANIFESTO' on London's iconic Piccadilly Lights screen. Curated this month in collaboration with The Showroom, directed by Elvira Dyangani Ose, the work can also be viewed on the CIRCA website, where a signed-edition print by Smith is available to purchase for £100 until 31 November 2020.
Cauleen Smith will be rewriting and revealing each point of the Manifesto throughout the duration of November. In a sort of 'living' still-life, the artist's desk will be the tableau, in which personal items, remnants of daily rituals, and key references to her practice will accumulate, appear and disappear.
Consisting of 23 pronouncements, 'COVID MANIFESTO' will unfold in a sequence, a crescendo, that is punctuated by 7 intermissions selected from Smith’s existing works. Over the month, the personal and poetic, the eventful and now historical, will feature as Smith responds to Covid-19 and its multiple aftermaths.
CIRCA remains open throughout lockdown, every evening at 20:20 - 20:22GMT, on Piccadilly Lights, Europe's largest screen. In line with government guidelines, outdoor recreation is encouraged and you can meet one person from outside your household in an outdoor, public space such as Piccadilly Circus.
