When the World is only left black and grey is a poetic reflection on human intervention in nature as well as a creative experiment in constructing nature via various forms of human mediation.
About
In a highly technologized and globalized world, traces of human presence can be found in the most untouched parts of the world. A new form of “nature” is being created through heavy human involvement. Unexpected artificial changes thus resulted from this unnatural nature, generating consequences, hazards as well as beauty that humans can no longer easily predict and contain.
The exhibition originated from the artist's ambivalent relationship with nature as well as her reflection on the dilemma between human intervention and natural development in the contemporary world.
Hazardous as it might be, the toxic beauty of the traces left and created by humans is often ironically spectacular and fascinating. Struggling with this strange realization, the artist attempts to use different chemical and toxic process in producing disturbing and yet visually impressive effects in her work. By fusing and capturing natural destruction with artistic creation, the artist intends to stage both a symbolic and literal environmental drama to confront the very issue that both intrigued and disturbed her
