The fascinating piece of art that will reside in the buildings Black Gallery, explores the relationship between sound, light and art. Designed to disorientate, entertain and stimulate the imagination, the automated mechanism will come to life as visitors enter the darkened room relaying mysterious sounds and imagery. The work of Jony Easterby is characterised by the diversity of his artistic practices - using a range of technologies to produce inspiring creations unique in their approach. Taking inspiration from the natural world, and its place within culture and social context, Easterby uses a variety of digital and analogue media to across his work. A breadth of expertise in a wide range of artistic skills has found him developing projects as varied as the construction of intricate sound sculptures, audio visual installations, architectural constructions and the providing the artistic direction for large-scale performance projects. Permanent sound installations can be found under the White cliffs of Dover, and in the Ashbourne Tunnel in Derbyshire. He has worked as a composer and designer for Red Earth, NVA, Fevered Sleep and Stan's Café.
