Street Children of Brazil and Images from Around the World

About

Images from Around the World at Gallery150 From 7th until 19th June, Gallery150 will be showcasing the works of two highly talented photographers, Gregory J. Smith, founder of The Children At Risk Foundation (CARF) and professional photographer, James Callaghan. Since Gregory Smith founded CARF Norway in 1992, the foundation has set up several centres to benefit the street children of Brazil, defending their rights and offering children the possibility to live and grow within a family-oriented context and healthy social environment, as well as organising activities that inspire children and young people to discover those inner abilities and talents that very few of them would normally have the chance to develop, an essential factor in the rehabilitation of street children. All the way from South America, these beautiful and touching photographs are a hope-inspiring labour of love, giving us a moving glimpse into the everyday lives of these brave children, be they immortalised at play or in a moment of intense reflection. The proceeds from the sales will be donated to the cause. James Callaghan, who started his career taking pictures for Jaguar, will be presenting ‘Personally', a series of photographs, which encapsulate various personal moments from his life. Sharp, evocative and poignant, Callaghan takes us on a journey into his own personal world, breaking away from the constraints of his profession, immortalising the things he has seen on his travels or things that simply intrigue or amuse him. The photographer will be donating all of the profits to the Myton Hospice. Run and show-cased by LSA, Gallery150 is open Tuesday to Saturday from 11am to 6pm and Sunday from 11 am to 4pm.
