About

Café Chà ¢teau is a pop-up café launching as part of the Royal College of Art's 2011 graduate exhibition, 'Show Kensington'. Lasting for the duration of 'Show Kensington', from 24th June - 3rd July, the Victorian Villas of the RCA's Stevens building will be transformed into a fully functioning Canapé and Cocktail bar designed by graduating Communication Art and Design student Samara Scott. Scott is an artist and theatrical prop maker, she has worked with Practice Architecture and designed costumes for Assemble's Cineroleum. Café Chà ¢teau will be a tropical paradise and a haven for vistiors to Show Kensington. The modernist interior will be furnished with marbled pastels and lacquered surfaces. Scott's furniture will include oversized, hand printed palm tree fabric cushions; fused glass tabletops; and benches fashioned from brightly coloured swimming pool floats overlaid with screen-printed socks. Running with the theme of tropical ambiance, Café Chà ¢teau will serve a delicious range of petit, exotic menu items, afternoon snacks and sweets that will change daily, prepared by chef Olga Winterbottom from Franks Campari Bar and formerly of the Chelsea Arts Club. The space will also serve fresh coconuts and colourful fruit cocktails designed by the Boxer Brothers. Franks of Franks Campari Bar and Jackson of Brunswick House. Prices start from just 50p. *** PLEASE NOTE THAT CAFE CHATEAU WILL BE AT THE ROYAL COLLEGE'S KENSINGTON CAMPUS, NOT BATTERSEA. The entrance to Café Chà ¢teau can be found at 198 Queensgate. Cafe Chateau will be open from 24 June - 3 July 2011, 11am — 8pm daily (closes at 4pm on 28 June; closed 1 July).
