The exhibition "Béton" emphasises the perpetually modern aspect of concrete, while shining light on the social and ideological implications of past concrete architectures at the same time.
About
In the 1950s and 60s, concrete was regarded as the epitome of modernism. An individual architectural style based on concrete established itself, so-called brutalism, named after the French word for raw concrete: béton brut. To this day, concrete is perceived as progressive and for some time now, there has been an increased focus on late modernist urban planning in contemporary art.
