About

For his first solo exhibition in London, Caen-based artist, filmmaker and composer Alden Volney presents Broadcaste, a newly commissioned film work that both satirises and pushes the penchant, in mainstream broadcast media, for distortion and sensationalism.

In essence Broadcaste will function as a condensed day-long transmission of a fictional television channel, a channel whose output, though a grotesque parody, will amplify and subvert recognisable practices of framing, reporting and depicting reality used by the BBC, 21st Century Fox, and France 2.

From an anti-Darwin, creationist Saturday morning cartoon to a home shopping channel that specialises in selling used law enforcement weapons, Broadcaste peels back the artificial film of respectability that hides the festering sore of right wing bias, increasingly given centre stage on broadcast media platforms.

The gallery is open Wednesday to Sunday, 12.00 – 6.00pm.
