About

The National Gallery inaugurates the exhibition BRIC-à-brac - The Jumble of Growth - 另 一种 选择 curated by Gerardo Mosquera and Huang Du. About forty works by 26 international artists and two curators from countries at the antipodes - Cuba and China - with different cultural and geographical contexts, but sharing a common bet on the possibilities of reading the present.

The title of the exhibition, multilingual and tripartite, analyzes and translates the contradictory context in which we live. Playing on the French expression ric-à-brac , a heterogeneous and disordered combination of small decorative elements, the project focuses on the chaotic and conflictual growth - The Jumble of Growth - of countries from emerging economies. In particular, the BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and now also South Africa).

The exhibition, set up in the museum's Central Hall, now reaches Italy thanks to an unprecedented collaboration between the Today Art Museum in Beijing and the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rome. This is the result of the National Gallery's commitment to creating fruitful links with cultural institutions around the world.
