About

This year Bow Arts celebrates its 20th anniversary. Bow Arts’ annual open studios are a highlight of the arts calendar and one of the most vibrant and well attended arts events in London. Now in its 20th year, Bow Open Studios 2015 is set to be one of the biggest and the best opportunity yet, for members of the public, curators and collectors to meet some of the best young artists working in London today.

The event will take place Friday 19th June 6-9pm and Saturday 20th June 1-5pm featuring over 150 artists and designers, pop-up bars, local street food, a designer/maker market and live music.

There will also be an exhibition of work from Bow Arts Education in the Carmelite Cafe and a drop in workshop for children and young people on the Saturday. Gallery Director, Rosamond Murdoch will be holding curated studio tours throughout the weekend.

Bow Open Show 2015
This year will also see the return of the Bow Open Show to Nunnery Gallery with a private view Friday 19th June 6-9pm. Bow Open Show is an annual exhibition selecting the best work from over 400 artists who currently hold studios, live and work spaces and carry out education projects with Bow Arts. The exhibition is an important celebration of all the work that Bow Arts does throughout the year, and we have invited guest curators to select their choice of the work. Previous curators have been Mark Wallinger (2014) Bob and Roberta Smith with Skye Sherwin in 2012.

We are thrilled to announce that this year’s guest curator is Dr Shahida Bari, Lecturer in Romanticism from Queen Mary University of London.  Shahida will select from over 400 artists with Gallery Director Rosamond Murdoch, to create a unique exhibition in Nunnery Gallery. Find out more here.

London Festival of Architecture 2015
Bow Arts and Delvendhal Martin Architects will be hosting a walking exploration from 'Olympicopolis' to Bow on Saturday 20th June 1pm - 3:30pm. This event is part of the London Festival of Architecture 2015. Booking essential and places limited. Click here for more details.

Sustainability and Accessibility at Bow Open Weekend 2015
Bow Arts is a National Portfolio sector leader on sustainability for Arts Council England. Therefore again this year's Open will have a strong focus on utilising the fantastic diversity of local east London traders and suppliers and everyone will be encouraged to travel to the event by bike, foot or public transport. Our green team will be working to ensure maximum recycling and communication of all things green, throughout. Why don’t you follow our blog and get involved?

Bow Road studios are located in a range of Victorian buildings.  This means that not all areas are fully accessible for wheelchair users. However we have worked hard to make as many areas as we can accessible across the Bow Road site and we warmly welcome you to come along to our Open Weekend –  there is ground level step free access to studios, the courtyard market stalls, food, drink & music.  The Nunnery Gallery and Carmelite Café is wheelchair accessible.   Please note that wheelchair access to some ground floor studios may require assistance. Please email property@bowarts.com if you require assistance and to find out more.

Bow Open Weekend 2015 is FREE entry, and with an average turnout of over 2,000 people it is an event certainly not to be missed!

See you there!
