Bo Kim’s Available Light is an exploration of spaces and boundaries, particularly in regards to the limitations of human understanding.
About
Using oil paint on canvas, Kim creates visual atmospheres that express how spaces and boundaries are often modified, exaggerated or deleted over a period of time. She works in series to examine combinations of absence and presence, physicality and virtuality, past and present, while consistently exploring her subject matter.About the Artist
Bo Kim is a visual artist from South Korea who currently works and lives in New York. She received a BFA from SAIC and an MFA from SVA. She has presented solo exhibitions through Chashama, at Chicago Pop Up Art Loop and Gallery Uno. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally in numerous group exhibitions at galleries including Aram Art Museum of the Goyang Cultural Foundation, Trestle Gallery, Arnot Art Museum, Korean Cultural Service in New York, Curious Matter Gallery and Blackburn 20/20 Gallery. She has been awarded multiple studio residencies, including at MASS MoCA, Vermont Studio Center and The League Residency at Vyt with the Ruth Katzman scholarship.
