About
Stefan Dowsing is a British artist living in Spain and working with painting, video, installation, music and digital text. His inspiration comes from considering the systems and operating parameters of the natural world, but it is never his intention to portray or represent the elements of nature in themselves. Instead, he explores the process of their formation in order to emulate nature. Dowsing endeavours to create work that moves the onlooker at a deep level; that imparts an uplifting, positive experience. He is unafraid of doing so by engaging with beauty and harmony of colour, tone and form.
Stefan's work has been shown widely in the UK and Europe. He has exhibited at the Victoria & Albert Museum, Tate and the Photographers' Gallery, London. Examples of his work in painting, photography, digital & silk-screen printmaking and installation are in various collections, including the V&A.
Other artists participating in Blackheath Gallery's New Year Exhibition 2016 include Liz Knox, Marc Reist, Oliver Gaiger, Jill Barthorpe, Michael Bennallack Hart, Mark Dedrie, Anne Lynch, Nick Harris and Richard Burel.
