Award-winning photographer and oral historian, Mike Tsang presents his latest exhibition exploring the fascinating stories of the British Born Chinese and their families’ lives in Britain.

About

This unique project explores what it means to be a British Born Chinese and features 10 photographic portraits alongside archival imagery and written interviews. By exploring the heritage of this emerging community in the UK and their daily fusion of Eastern and Western values, the projects’ subjects form part of a distinct third culture.

Often, the people of Britain are only exposed to Chinese culture through the Chinatowns or the ubiquitous takeaways of UK cities. But how are the Chinese represented in British culture, sport or politics? Between East & West celebrates the role of the British Born Chinese in modern society and challenges the distorted view of Chinese culture as the mystical Orient.
