About

An exceptional chance to see the most comprehensive survey to date of this most appealing of artists. A North countryman, Ben Hartley spent twenty of his most creative years avoiding publicity, living in the village of Ermington, east of Plymouth. He is now widely known for his vividly coloured paintings in gouache on brown paper, and for his vision, full of humour and poetry, of country life: the people and animals, farmyard and domestic. A visit to an exhibition of the work of Ben Hartley has to be a joyful experience. Details of gallery talks and other associated events can be found on the Peninsula Arts web site.
