About
The distinct worlds of fashion and art collide in Bruno Glint's latest show âBehind the Seamz' where three international London-based fashion designers present their unique sartorial items and garments alongside an exposure of the more modest intricacies of process - the tools, notes, materials, sketches, photos and personal fragments of inspiration.
The works of bespoke shoe-maker Scarlet Fever (AUS), hair and head-prop artist Tomihiro Kono (JPN) and knitwear designer Derek Lawlor (UK) are snatched away from the fashion-friendly familiarity of catwalks, photo studios and shop windows to be displayed on the plinths and planks of the Bruno Glint gallery.
Presenting these multifaceted elements of influence and production, the life-blood of these bodies of finished work, âBehind the Seamz' chips off the dazzling armour of adornment and momentarily peels away the pleasure of the aesthetic façade in order to give the viewer a deeper glimpse into the inherently intellectual, historical and cultural associations that underpin the art of fashion design.
