RIFT is the fourth in a series of Banquet performances by artists Paola De Ramos and Bea Bonafini that invite participants to engage with playful and absurd enactments of alternative ways of eating together through intimacy, ritual and shared experience. This multi-disciplinary performance draws upon themes of eco-sustainability, texture, under-explored resources, spectacular aesthetics and the unexpected.

RIFT appears and disappears like organic growth incorporating new organisms and participants into its progress, whilst altering ordinary experience and situations of eating and being together. Participants will see and feel material growth fluidly unfold around them as they take on new living structures and unfamiliar situations.

RIFT is a site-specific collaborative performance attached to Aya Peckham; a new, communal organic café whose philosophy promotes independent, organic food, art and fashion. Also working collaboratively within this social context is cook Farid Fakhre who has developed an unusually delicious menu incorporating key sustainable, tasty and ethical ingredients.

RIFT is curated by Leo Cohen. It opens an investigation into interconnected genres and discourse, blending art into cooking and ecology, food politics, eating, performing, participation, site-specificity, situation, reaction to situation and social function within social contexts.
