For this most unusual edition of Berlin Art Week, we at Weserhalle are delighted to present our next group exhibition: Auction 6, which highlights a selection of our artists and collaborators, providing an opportunity for us to showcase the variety and range of our curatorial stratagem.
About
Why the auction format? As with previous auctions at Weserhalle, over 90% of the participating artists are local to Neukölln, half of which produce their work in studios within 1.5km from the gallery. The community oriented programme of Weserhalle emphasises connection and conviviality, with an intention to generate community networks of artist support. By taking this localised approach, we aim to raise funds to enable both our gallery and the artists we support to continue producing their respective work of which the. We want to maintain this community building initiative, using Berlin Art Week as an opportunity to open the doors wide to both the curious neighbour and the international art collector alike, expanding the reach of the gallery for the benefit of the artists we support.
With a focus on intersections of art and design, Weserhalle is committed to supporting new and emerging artists to provide a platform for their professional artistic development. Additionally, the exhibition AUCTION 6 works toward the de-centralised concept of Berlin Art Week 2020, playing double duty as the 6th iteration of the Live Art Auction, and the second auction by the gallery with the bidding mechanism hosted entirely online. The available artwork will be revealed shortly.
