Book Launch and Discussion Event
Editors: Brett Wilson, Barbara Hawkins and Stuart Sim
Coinciding with the UK launch of this multi-author interdisciplinary text, GV Art and Project Dialogue are co-hosting a debate, ‘Where Next for ArtScience?’ featuring four of the book’s contributors: Stuart Sim, Iain Biggs, Brett Wilson and Barbara Hawkins.
Biographies
Stuart Sim (chair) is retired professor of critical theory and English literature at Northumbria University, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. He has published widely in the field of critical theory and philosophy, and is a founding member of Project Dialogue.
Iain Biggs is the former director of PLaCE, an international arts research network which he continues to help co-ordinate. He works as a teacher, artist and researcher on ‘deep mappings’ that interweave humanities, arts and social sciences.
Brett Wilson moved from a full-time professorial scientific research career to become “scientist in residence” at the arts faculty of the University of the West of England. He is a founder member of Project Dialogue, and senior editor of the book ‘’Art, Science and Cultural Understanding”.
Barbara Hawkins is a former head of graduate studies, specialising in arts practice-led research. She is the third founding member of Project Dialogue, now working as an independent scholar and educational advisor.
