About
'The Shock of the Old' lecture will ask the following questions, to explore the synergies between contempory art and the history of art. Is contemporary art detached from the history of western art: is there any connection to be made between the art of the Renaissance and that seen in Tate Modern, Frieze Art Fair and the Saatchi Gallery? Are artists aware of tradition, and how do they respond to it? Have the lessons of the past been learned?
This lecture is designed to appeal to both curious beginners and more knowledgeable art-lovers. London Art Studies' events are 'spas for the mind' - a wonderful way to switch off, learn and socialise.
