Love, Loss and Miniature Portraits is the second talk in this series and presented by Lara Perry, University of Brighton.

About

Portraits miniatures have for centuries been exchanged by friends, lovers and mourners to commemorate and sustain their relationships in times of separation. The second talk in our Art of Sexuality series will explore the ways that these objects have allowed for the enjoyment, and the display, of intimacy by both women and men.

Lara Perry is the Academic Programme Leader for the History of Art and Design at the University of Brighton.  Her research on art in nineteenth century England has explored issues of gender and art in the public sphere through studies of the National Portrait Gallery, the portraits of GF Watts, and portrait photography.
