INTRODUCTION TO ANATOMY 

Learn the basics of structure, proportions and basic anatomy of the body to help inform your life drawings.

Life Drawing: COLOUR PASTELS

Inspired by Degas approach to pastel painting this course covers a variety of pastel techniques including ways of layering and building up tones and colour to create finished pastel drawings. Experimenting with different papers, you will be encouraged to consider a more Degas approach to composition using dynamic cropping and asymmetry.

BACK TO LIFE

This 1 day course is aimed at both beginners and experienced artists. A re-appraisal of some of basic techniques of drawing the body to help develop you’re own drawing approach. We explore ways of improving proportion, scale, structure and volume in the body as well as advice on how to develop line and tone in the drawings.

LIFE DRAWING & PAINTING: MIXED MEDIA

Discover new and experimental approaches to life drawing, working with a variety of mark-making techniques including gesture, line and tonal exercises. This course aims to give you some new techniques and the opportunity to try new and unfamiliar materials to freshen up your approach.

LIFE DRAWING BODY BASICS: HEAD TO TOES 

Learn some simple techniques to help break down the structure and proportions of the head, hands and feet to give you confidence when tackling these tricky areas of the body. Line, tone and gesture will also be explored through the drawings. This course includes long and short poses and lots of demonstrations to guide you through the different techniques.

PORTRAIT PAINTING COURSE

Develop your Portrait Painting

Explore methods to help develop your personal approach to Portrait Painting. This is an ideal course for students that have either completed Intro to Portrait Painting or who have some painting experience. With a series of demonstrations you will be guided through the different techniques and materials best suited to your own particular style of painting.

For those who have completed the Introduction to Portrait Painting course or those with some previous painting experience.

LINO / WOOD CUTTING COURSE

Learn and develop skills in relief printing using both Lino and Wood Cutting techniques.

INTRODUCTION TO PORTRAIT PAINTING

Focusing on the head and shoulders, you will be introduced to the different approaches to making a portrait in oils. With a series of demonstrations you will be guided through the different techniques and materials best suited to your own particular style of painting.

PORTRAIT DRAWING

Learn some useful techniques for structuring the head and features, which will help towards capturing the individuality of your sitter. You will be guided through the different stages of making a finished portrait drawing – from initial quick studies looking at the head from different angles, and how to structure and place the features of the face to building up form and tonality. You will use materials such as charcoal, graphite and chalks.
