About
Opening Day:
Friday 3 November • 3pm-6pm
We would love for you to join us for complimentary drinks and nibbles whilst exploring the artwork. Both artists will be present to talk in more detail about their work and answer any questions you may have.
Giovanna Del Sarto
Since 2015, documentary photographer Giovanna Del Sarto has recorded the refugee crisis through her unique project, A Polaroid for a Refugee. Asking her subjects to pose, but not giving them any direction on how to do so, she snaps Polaroid photographs that not only document the current situation of these refugees but gives them a gift—as each is also given a photograph in exchange.
Bern O’Donoghue
Bern O’Donoghue is a visual artist involving members of the public in socially engaged, immersive projects examining the power of words to shape perception. From 2015, her work Dead Reckoning has considered displacement and in particular the plight of those taking the perilous journey to Europe by sea. Focusing on people behind the statistics, she aims to widen the debate on migration and challenge myths regarding refugees and migrants.”
