Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker: Work/Travail/Arbeid
20 Mar 2015 – 17 May 2015
WIELS
Brussels, Belgium
Work on Paper is an exhibition of the drawings of Brussels choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. From Fase (1982) toVortex Temporum (2013) the drawings reflect the importance of geometry in the choreographer’s work. The figures on the dance floor are mathematical and intuitive in equal measure as they proportion the space and danced time.
In Vortex Temporum a geometric structure provides a spatial calibration of time. It begins with a circle, in which there is a pentagon, in each corner of the pentagon there are more circles, one for each and every dancer and musician.
Work on paper was compiled by Dirk Snauwaert and ties in with the exhibition Work/Travail/Arbeid in WIELS, in which Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker reinterprets her Vortex Temporum choreography for the substantially different temporal and spatial circumstances of a museological space.
