Primarily known for her non-figurative cast sculptures Ann Christopher also produces series of drawings and prints. These mainly two dimensional works are of equal importance and often mark significant turning points in the body of her work. Being a sculptor many of her paper works have a strong three dimensional quality visually or literally with layering of different papers, cutting of paper, the use of collage and various other elements.
Christopher draws her references from rock formations, architecture and currently shadows and lines. She uses a camera to collect images - rarely referring to them directly but using them as a means of discovery a series of images will reveal her latest preoccupations of shape and inspiration. She travels widely collecting new visual experiences and has undertaken residencies in France and Ireland which enable total emersion in her work.
