A three day course in Human Anatomy taught by Alan McGowan carried out through life-drawing, demonstration and anatomical examples.
About
The workshop will look at the skeleton, useful landmarks, the main muscle masses and the mechanics of the body working from a life model. Knowledge of the underlying anatomical structures of the body is a fundamental part of confident and expressive figurative art and was until recently a cornerstone of art training. Find out what artists as varied as Leonardo da Vinci, Degas, Egon Schiele and Picasso all knew!
Alan McGowan is a prize winning artist, painter and sculptor and has taught anatomy for artists at The Bristol School of Drawing, The Royal Hibernian Academy (Dublin), The Museum of London, West Dean College, Moray Arts Centre, The Queens Gallery Holyrood, and drawing at Edinburgh College of Art, Duncan of Jordanstone, Leith School of Art and other institutions.
