About
Enter the world of handmade paper and learn all about its wonderful, quirky properties in this 101 with papermaker and book artist, Lucy Baxandall.
To kick things off, we will dive into how to how to prepare pulp for papermaking and run through the basic equipment that you will need to get going. We will then move onto sheet forming with a mould and deckle where you will begin to see your paper creations take shape.
Riffing off some of the manipulation techniques Maria Amidu uses in her own practice, Lucy will also show us how to use water marking and manipulation to create unique sculptural effects to adorn our paper sheets.
Finally, we will learn about the different techniques you can use to dry your paper and bundle up your paper creations to take away safely.
All materials will be provided – no experience necessary!
