AboutArtists: Chloë Brown, Paul Evans & Humanstudio, Hondartza Fraga, Karl Hurst, Chris Jones and Tony Kemplen
Selected by artist Paul Evans, All Things Bright and Beautiful is a new exhibition of work by contemporary artists exploring our perceptions of âcreatures' in contemporary society; a visual and poetic response to the Anglican hymn of the same name. The exhibition both responds to the redundant church which now houses part of 20-21 Visual Arts Centre and is part of Paul's ongoing research into aspects of our physical and emotional relationship with nature: an exploration of our existence as biological organisms.
Featuring drawing, sound, video and computer animation All Things Bright and Beautiful is accompanied by a poem from writer Chris Jones, linking individual elements within the exhibition. Although each of the artists involved has quite different responses to this subject matter, varying from analytical to symbolic to romantic, the works will connect via our recurring and culturally deep-rooted fascination with the animal kingdom and our constantly changing relationship to it.
