Emerging Japanese architect Akihisa Hirata presents his first international solo exhibition in The AF Project Space.

About

Hot on the heels of his of his Venice Biennale debut, emerging Japanese architect Akihisa Hirata presents an immersive 1:1 installation taking the form of a continuous contorted loop demonstrating the essence of his architecture. The loop will create multiple pathways and nooks, whilst layered upon and amongst this structure will be over three hundred study models and sketches, an interview with the architect, an ambient soundscape, and specially commissioned films, illustrating Hirata's theories of ‘tangling' in architecture. The exhibition provides a unique opportunity for an international audience to experience the work of this pioneering young architect as the AF's contribution to the London Design Festival 2012. Curated by Naomi Shibata and The Architecture Foundation. Opening times: Tuesday to Saturday, 12pm-6pm A special public lecture by Akihisa Hirata has been programmed in response the exhibition on Tuesday 18 September at the Bloomberg Auditorium.
