The Brick Lane Gallery is excited to present our exhibition ABSTRACT ART, focusing on this style which breaks away from the representation of the familiar or physical, which we can identify. Including different mediums and techniques, we will explore different elements such as colours and shapes being emphasized or simplified in order to achieve pure abstraction. The examples of abstract art offered in this show by these local and international artists allow us to interpret them freely and relate to each piece in our own way.
Ella Marciello presents the project “ Raise the Silence” exploring how the contemporary age is characterized by the invasion of words. We live in a world of noise in which we lose track of silence for it turns from a virtue to a flaw, from a value to a demon. Words pile up in mass and lose their primary purpose, which is to communicate. Silence creates the opportunity to transcend all forms of stereotypical language because one can deeply enter the meta-linguistic dimension: here we don’t fall into clichés, whether aesthetic or ideal. Giving up silence means giving up oneself. Kalisaur presents artworks which often depict upon her emotional complications, divergence and conflicting mind sets, expressed through the variety of layers, brush strokes, bold colours and entirely random aspects which seemingly collide to produce a marvellous feat when composed together. Providing a relief from her darkness by creating such vibrant and varied pieces she aims to expose the beautiful brutality of living with depression and a highly confused mind.
You are warmly welcome to join us for a drink with the artists at the opening night of ABSTRACT ART at The Brick Lane Gallery open from 6pm-8.30pm on Wednesday 30th March 2016.
