About

The Brick Lane Gallery is pleased to present a new ongoing programme of exhibitions in 2015 and 2016 based on ABSTRACT ART. Abstract art and sculpture emerged as an artistic art form in the twentieth century breaking away from the traditional representation of physical objects. In recent years it has made a considerable come back into contemporary art today. Our exhibitions will aim to showcase new and innovative styles in this popular and contemporary art form mixing different practices from various countries and continents. Expect to see diverse artistic approaches, styles and techniques showcasing new and exciting forms of abstraction. From Australia, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden Japan, South Africa and the UK, this group of artists is looking for new ways to represent the world around them and their responses to it. The subject of the work is based on what you see: color, shapes, brushstrokes, size, scale and it is completely open to interpretation. The exhibition will invite you to keep an open and inquiring mind; entering the artworks and see where it takes you.

Bianca Molini AKA Babalini loves the freedom and openness abstract expression allows, for exploring different feelings, thoughts and emotions.
When creating abstract art, Bianca listens to music, she finds that sound brings about certain movement and emotion in her art-making, and gives her a deeper inspiration in making art. Music arouses in her work an expression of harmony and balance, as informed by the connection of the two art forms. This is why she has entitled this series of pieces ‘Music’. Each piece in this collection is named after a song title - either because it was the song listened to as she began creating the work or she sees in the finished piece a representation of the particular piece of music. Sunaina Patel explores the interaction, and congruous relationship, between man and nature. The paint, prints on the pages and pages themselves all combine to create compositions of ambiguous, abstract works whose subject matter is derived from her personal surroundings.

Abstract art gives you the freedom to explore the artwork and assign your own meaning to the piece. The artworks provoke an intensely personal involvement. Join us for a drink with the artists at the opening night of ABSTRACT at The Brick Lane Gallery open from 6pm-8.30pm on Wednesday 19th August 2015.
