New exhibition brings together female artists from the past and present
About
Women make up half of the population – but when it comes to the history of art, how many can you name? A new exhibition at Maidstone Museum, called ‘A Woman of Genius’, aims to shine a light on some of the women from the 1500s to the early 20th century who built successful careers as artists.
This first solo exhibition by Vicki Cooke is a collaboration with Maidstone Museum, showcasing her own drawings, based on the self-portraits of these artists, alongside works from the museum collection by women, many of which have not been exhibited for years.
