Exhibition featuring five artists practicing in the London Borough of Brent. Using a wide variety of media, including painting, ceramics, photography, installation, and video, each artist has approached the concept of A Thin Line through individual, research-led responses.

A Thin Line refers to the subtle and almost imperceptible distinction that lies between two concepts or situations, as well as speaking for the transitional space that exists within states and conditions. In turn, the phrase guides us toward a wide range of ideas concerning boundaries and thresholds; such as our relation to the environment, our role in society, and the invisible brink that lies between presence/absence, reality/fantasy, truth/illusion, past/present.

The result is an ambitious and diverse exhibition which explores age-old topics that are still relevant today: women’s identity and their role in society, identity crises, the intangible nature of time, our relationship with new technologies, climate, the environment and urbanisation. Each artist seeks to pinpoint the boundaries and limits of their chosen subject, by investigating the space that lies between, and uncovering what lies beyond.
