A Soft Introduction considers slippages, things without edges and the transmission of residual affect through drawing, installation and sound; an attempt to capture that which cannot be held.
About
Developed in partnership with Visual Arts Plymouth and Arts Council England for Plymouth Art Weekender 2017, A Soft Introduction is Laura Edmunds’ most ambitious exhibition yet. Considering slippages, things without edges and the transmission of residual affect through drawing, installation and sound; Laura attempts to capture that which cannot be held. A Soft Introduction sees Edmunds using drawing to capture a sense of energy within space, reflecting on the idea that we are impermanent.Through sound, shape-shifting boundaries are explored - becoming container and contained.
A closing event on Sunday 23 September from 2 - 4pm is free and open to all, with invited sonic artist Ian Watson (Cardiff) performing a score created by directly responding to the exhibition.
Laura Edmunds (b. 1989, Cardiff) is a Welsh artist currently based at KARST studios in Plymouth, UK. Laura is currently represented by TEN Gallery in Cardiff, Wales. A Soft Introduction has been supported by Arts Council England and Visual Arts Plymouth.
