Annabelle Losa’s use of resin in her artwork is phenomenal. This is an opportunity to view her breathtaking abstract work in detail.
About
Annabelle is a Margate born Contemporary Artist who makes pieces that are mainly Abstract, bringing a balance between order and chaos. In this retrospective her works express elements of landscape, forgotten spaces the influence of natural and unnatural landscapes, disconnected from their usual surroundings or places. Annabelle creates a space for rumination that challenges the relationship to their meaning. She subtly presents the mirror of nature as well as suggesting something more with these little moments of chaos, namely that these are personal stories, reminiscent places, real life, emotions and thoughts to life experiences. The use of resin encapsulates what Annabelle calls ‘Happy Mistakes’ where curing undertakes its own abstract nature. With temperature control and the manipulation within the mixing process pits and textures produce a glass like finish.
“My works have been described as a visual feast of colour and energy, as well as encapsulating a kind of abstract melancholy. Fundamentally what I hope to achieve is emotive pieces that connect with people on different levels”
