“Look, here is my degree, now can I become an artist?”
About
As part of Wimbledon College of Arts’ BA Sculpture degree show 2018, Cedric Fauq and Ibrahim Cisse two curators who recently completed an MA in the Curatorial program at the Royal College of Art are invited to talk and share some of their experience alongside their fellow art students.
How sustainable is independence for artists living in London upon graduation? What are the alternative routes one can take to maintain an artistic practice? Can independence be lived individually or can it be a collective enterprise? What is the value of the network, and how can one build a reliable network?
Attempting to provide the beginning of an answer, Cedric and Ibrahim will talk about their respective projects as well as their joint venture ‘Formerly Called’ that started in 2017 at the South London Gallery and continues to take shape during their 2018 residency at Wysing Art Centre (Cambridge).
The event is an open conversation open to all, the participation of the audience is warmly recommended and will inform the quality of the discussion.
This event is the second of a two part series of talk organised by Wimbledon College of Arts Sculpture students.
