Using a fleet of 25 Routemaster buses as my canvas, “A Billion Hugs” is an uplifting Public Art Installation on Buses 9 and 211 moving around London uplifting lives: giving someone a visual hug when they need it most.
About
“A Billion Hugs” is about Art coming to people in a way that is accessible to all.
So many people are struggling and, on their knees, right now, and this moving public art installation is about giving someone a visual hug when they need it most - reminding them that they are loved, that they matter and to keep believing in themselves…
When someone looks up and sees the artworks, they will see an uplifting message together with a wall of names sponsored by people who have put their name or a loved one’s name in the artwork - people who want to see someone else feeling a bit brighter and more connected.
It’s the total opposite of what buses advertisements usually do - trigger a sense of lack and fear so people feel that they need to “buy” something in order to feel better - this is 100% about unconditional love, unconditional giving - reaching out to someone when they need it most.
Launching on London bus routes 9 and 211 on the 4th July, “A Billion Hugs” is a fleet of 25 buses driving around the streets of London uplifting lives wherever they go.
