About
An exhibition of the very latest paintings from Chris Gollon’s studio. The exhibition's theme came from Gollon’s experience at a music event in summer, where swathes of ‘corporate hospitality’ guests seemed to be totally oblivious to the various and wonderful performances by quartets and solo musicians. Gollon felt for the musicians and saw it as a sort of martyrdom, developing the idea in the predella ‘The Last Pianist’ (110” x 30”, 279 x 30cm, acrylic on paper 2014), as well as in the exhibition's title painting 'The Martyrdom of St Cecilia' (30" x 22" acrylic on paper 2014) and throughout the new series of works on display.
