About
"I've received the question in the past, 'why do you wear that thing? Why can't you just be yourself?' And my answer is because then I would be like any other contemporary artist".
21st Century is a collection of artwork combining photography and comicbook art to highlight some of the bleaker sides of society. Together with this, up and coming artist Victor BOXMAN Nobis will showcase a range of his previously exhibited artwork and sell prints on the spot. Victor aims to present the contemporary art scene differently, showcasing a quirky style that fuses modern interpretations in a vibrant comicbook style, all while posing as his alternate ego, BOXMAN, to some a talking TV, to others, just an ordinary guy with a box on his head. The idea came from the current age of constant surveillance society, being that of the internet, social media and overflow of information.
"We live in a time where screens are everywhere, we can't avoid them and we are slowly turning into automated representations by the technology we use. I thought the idea of a talking TV poses some ironic elements to the whole digitalized scenario. It's like imagining one of those moments when you FaceTime or Skype with a relative. It's fully natural to us today, so talking to a guy with a TV on his head shouldn't be that strange, right?"
The event will run for a week from 4th January. Prints and artwork will be sold at the spot.
