a collection of works seemingly omitting the conceptual whilst adhering to the physical

About

Bringing together the work of seven artists, it is the curiosity of the physical at the forefront. The first in a two part series, commencing at Safehouse2 in May 2016, will showcase an inherent substantiality, a collection of works seemingly omitting the conceptual whilst adhering to the physical. The exhibition features a series of sculptures, installations and film in which the artists play with the physicality as it amalgamates into the conceptual. The materially-focused collection of works will be presented alongside one another experimentally to depict the outcome.

Throughout, the artworks reach out to the domesticated setting they are housed in. Though Safehouse2 has had a dramatic separation from the domestic space it once was, the remnants of wallpaper, skirting boards and fireplaces refuse the complete reduction. The experimental position of this exhibition is allowing for curious coincidences to be recognised.
