Apply for Fernland Studios Artist Residencies, Ecological Arts Grants, and Writing Retreats

Updated: 14 March 2024

Fernland Studios is an experimental ecological arts studio offering rest, rejuvenation, and reciprocity. We provide Black, Indigenous, and all people of colour artist residencies, ecological arts funding, and writing retreats at no cost to them and with additional funding to support their practice. Remote artist residencies run June 20 to August 1. Ecological Arts Funding is a small grant for cultural producers to propose programs. Our Writing Retreat is in-person from July 22-27 at Salishan Coastal Lodge.

Eligibility: Selection is based on the proposed work’s connection to Fernland Studios’ mission, vision, and values. Participants must be 18+, and all participants working and living across the United States/Turtle Island in 2024 are eligible, while prioritizing participants in the Pacific Northwest.

What you get: Our programs provide space, time, and financial support. Artist and Writers receive $1,000, ecological funding is $2,500.
