TYPA Open Call: Nordic and Baltic Residency

Updated: 21 July 2022

We have hosted over 100 artists so far and continue to offer a dynamic and varied residency program. Our 2023 Open Call is now open. Thanks to funding from the Nordic Culture Point, we have been able to offer artists from Nordic and Baltic Countries extra support for their residency. We ask that these artists, who have more time and resources, are ambitious with their projects. That they look for ways to connect with the public of Tartu and engage with all that TYPA has to offer.

We are looking for experienced artists, who do not necessarily have an existing print practice but have a clear vision of how the residency will benefit them and what they can contribute to the city of Tartu.

Eligibility: Artists must be resident in one of the Nordic Countries (Denmark, Finland, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Åland) or the Baltic states (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania) - the invited artist should have a permanent address in one of these countries. However, it is not necessary for the invited artists to have Nordic or Baltic nationality. We are looking for artists who have at least 5 years of professional experience, although we are not looking for printmakers, but those who have an interest.

What you get: Our fees are dependent on our funding and support. For all residencies TYPA will pay for: Accommodation Studio usage and a storage shelf Access to our equipment Technical support Exhibition space Promotion of their practice and outcome. Nordic and Baltic Artists are excempt from our regular fee and will also receive a grant of 1500€ for their residency period, as well as a materials fee, and travel costs covered (green travel choices are favoured).
