Decommissioning the 20th Century is a project to investigate the complex challenges of decommissioning of the UK’s vast 20th-century energy infrastructure. We seek to engage communities of interest in discussions around the decommissioning of West Burton power station A. We anticipate place-based community engagement and broader engagement with other interested parties.
Eligibility: You will have a socially engaged practice with experience and confidence in working in different environments and instigating conversations with various individuals and institutions. We view your role as a guardian and an inquirer for this moment in history, as this iconic of 20thC power production falls silent. The artist will need to engage with various audiences in sensitive and creative ways, finding networks and opening up spaces for multiple viewpoints.
What you get out of it: Total Commission £5,500 (Artist fees = £4000. Based on daily rate of £150 per day = 27 (approx) days Additional materials and production budget = £1,500)
