Artist in Residence
USE AND ORNAMENT - A Residency
Updated: 20 May 2021
USE AND ORNAMENT is a practical, creative and working 4-week artist residency at AirSpace Gallery, leading to a finished artwork/installation which will form part of a group exhibition of the same name, part of the British Ceramics Biennial 2021 festival.
We are looking for creative practitioners to work with the communities and publics of Stoke-on-Trent to co-create an artwork during the residency. This artwork will then form an integral part of the follow-up group exhibition at AirSpace as part of the British Ceramics Biennial 2021.
Eligibility: Practitioners from all creative mediums are invited to apply, though an understanding of the clay and ceramics context of this exhibition and the wider festival should be considered.
What you get out of it: The successful applicant will receive an artist fee of £2000 plus up to £500 towards materials; accommodation and travel costs can be covered if necessary; AirSpace Gallery staff will provide ongoing logistical, technical and critical support. Specific clay-based facilities, technical and material requirements can be met; AirSpace Gallery will promote and document works throughout the residency period.
